The “Day And Night” LP by Carly Rae Jepsen is being released on Interscope and constitutes a double album divided into two halves of twelve tracks each. The release brings together new material, was announced as a large-scale project, and is accompanied by the lead single “On Wires,” which serves as the record’s first preview.
Musically, the work deliberately explores two sides of her artistry: the “Day” side leans toward more organic arrangements and draws on influences from 1970s psychedelic pop, while the “Night” side is more rooted in electronically driven dance and pop forms. The record is threaded with reflections on joy and uncertainty, longing, love, and the urge to break out of everyday life, with the song structures once again carried by melodic sensitivity and precise songwriting craft.
In creating the album, Carly Rae Jepsen worked with longtime collaborators and producers including Tavish Crowe, Kyle Shearer, Nate Cyphert, and Cole M.G.N., who contributed to and produced the album’s overall sound. The result presents an artist who continues to trust her pop instincts while exploring new sonic nuances, without straying from her unmistakable focus on melodies and hooks.
